Lisa Rycus Mikalonis is a commercial litigator and media attorney, focusing on intellectual property litigation. She was previously Assistant General Counsel to Motor City Casino in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to that she was the Assistant Dean for Career Services at Wayne State University Law School, where she has also taught Legal Research and Writing and Media Law. From 1986 to 2004, she worked as a litigator, primarily in the areas of media law and intellectual property law. She has worked for firms in Washington, D.C. and in the metropolitan Detroit area, where she counseled and represented print and broadcast media, internet providers, software manufacturers, publishers, authors, inventors and commercial entities in First Amendment and intellectual property law including media law, libel, privacy, patent litigation, copyright, trademark, unfair trade practices, communications law, freedom of information and open meetings acts, protection of sources, rights of access, antitrust, advertising and entertainment law. She has participated in numerous panel discussions in the areas of media law and the status of women in the legal profession.
