Client was rear-ended at a high rate of speed by a bus and she ended up hitting a utility pole, causing it to break in half and land on the roof of her car. - $1.75 million settlement with a special needs trust being established for a 6 year old child and her family who suffers severe neurologic deficits secondary to delay in treatment of bacterial meningitis. The child suffers from central nervous system injuries including spastic quadriplegia and cerebral palsy. - $2.1 million settlement for the family of a 44 year old woman who died due to a failure to properly and timely treat an infection following a laparoscopic cholecystectomy wherein she had suffered a perforation of the bile duct and small bowel. The case was settled pre-suit. - $4.25 million settlement for a 61 year old man and his family involving a failure to timely perform mitral valve replacement surgery. The delay led to hypotension and cardiac arrest upon induction of anesthesia. The man suffered brain damage secondary to cardiac arrest and anoxic encephalopathy. The case was settled per-suit. - $3.95 million settlement for a newborn and her family. The case involved failing to prescribe and administer antibiotics when x-rays were suspicious for necrotizing enterocolitis along with other signs and symptoms consistent with NEC. As a consequence of the delay in treatment, the baby suffered from severe neurological deficits including developmental delays, cerebral palsy and cortical blindness. - $1.1 million settlement for a woman who became paralyzed from the waist down due to failure to diagnose and treat transverse myelitis. Transverse myelitis is a neurological disorder of the spinal cord. - $3.3 million settlement involving a brain damaged child and the failure to perform fetal well-being testing in light of progressive worsening of fetal heart rate tracings following by a failure to perform a cesarean section in a timely fashion. The baby suffered severe neurological deficits, cerebral palsy, developmental delays and learning disability. - $1.25 million settlement for a brain damaged child and the failure to timely deliver. There was a failure on the part of the hospital and nurses to recognize abnormal fetal heart patterns in a high risk VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean section) patient admitted for trial of labor. The baby suffered neurological deficits, central nervous system deficiencies and seizure disorder. - $400,000 settlement and irrevocable trust in the delivery of the newborn and the failure to diagnosis and properly treat shoulder dystocia which would have averted the excessively traumatic delivery which resulted in the baby suffering an Erb’s palsy injury to the left arm. - Million dollar settlement with an annuity agreement in the case of a 72 year old woman and her family involving Heparin induced retroperitoneal bleed when she was hospitalized and being treated for unstable angina. The failure of the physician to timely diagnose and respond to this known reaction to Heparin resulted in the patient going to hypovolemic shock cascading to cardiac arrest. - $300,000 settlement in the case of a 24 year old male who presented to the hospital with abdominal pain of two weeks duration. He ended up suffering a urethral injury that occurred secondary to a sigmoid colectomy for perforated diverticulitis and fecal peritonitis and required prolonged hospitalization, extensive medical care, multiple surgeries, including left nephrectomy, and skin grafts. - $2.1 million settlement for 43-year-old man who was paralyzed following back surgery.
