Rochester Hills, Michigan oncologist Farid Fata. M.D. has been charged under federal criminal law for submitting false reimbursement claims for various medical services, care which was unnecessary for the patients he treated.
An FBI investigation has revealed that Dr. Fata and his corporation, Michigan Hematology Oncology, P.C. billed Medicare and Medicaid $35 million over a two-year period for care that was simply not indicated. He is alleged to have administered chemotherapy to patients who were in remission, deliberately misdiagnosed patients with cancer and other diseases and conditions to then proceed with unnecessary treatment.
