Father Joseph Baker – Clergy Sexual Abuse Lawyers
In October, 2022, Father Joseph “Jack” Baker, 60, of the City of Wayne, Michigan was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with sexual penetration with a 7-year-old boy in 2004 in a Detroit-area church. Father Baker raped the boy in a church sacristy when the boy was in the 2nd grade.
The victim, now 26 years old, testified at trial that he did not tell anyone about the incident at the time because Father Baker told him afterwards that the sexual assault was “his own sin.” The victim kept the sexual assault to himself for almost 20 years.
Father Baker was ordained a priest in 1993 and spent 26 years at several churches in the Metro Detroit area. Father Baker who served as a pastor and associate pastor at Saint Perpetua Parish in Waterford, St. Mary Parish in Wayne, Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn and Saint Hugo of the Hills Parish in Bloomfield Hills.
Father Baker was restricted from all public ministry in 2019. Baker is currently being held in the Wayne County jail awaiting sentencing. He faces up to 25 years in prison.
