Defective Hip Implant – Bone v. DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. et al.

Sommers Schwartz attorney Robert Sickels initiated a lawsuit alleging a manufacturing defect in a hip replacement system marketed by Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopaedics division. According to the complaint, the plaintiff was implanted with the defective device in his left hip in September 2011. The femoral component of the device subsequently fractured, causing him physical pain, mental anguish, and permanent disfigurement, and requiring him to undergo revision surgery to remove and replace the implant, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. The personal injury action was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan seeking compensation for economic and non-economic damages for the defendants’ negligence and breach of express and implied warranties.
