  • Wrongful Death – Nursing Home Malpractice: Findling v. Heartland Health Care Center – Plymouth, et al.

Sommers Schwartz attorney Matthew Turner filed a wrongful death lawsuit claiming that nurses employed by the defendant nursing home were professionally negligent in caring for the decedent, who was admitted to the facility with a tracheostomy tube. According to the complaint, the nurses failed to ensure placement of an inner cannula inside the patient’s trach tube at all times. When the patient went into cardiorespiratory distress, an Ambu bag could not be properly or timely positioned over the trach tube and the ensuing delay deprived his brain of oxygen. As a result of the anoxic brain injury, he was placed on artificial life support before his ultimate demise one week later.
