Sommers Schwartz attorney Matthew Turner secured a confidential $450,000 settlement for a trucking accident that ended a man’s ability to work as a millwright and participate in his favorite activities.
The negligence lawsuit alleged the defendant was operating a semi-trailer truck in the center lane of a highway and collided with the plaintiff’s car when the truck operator attempted to change lanes. Because of the crash, the 52-year-old plaintiff suffered severe neck, back, and right shoulder injuries, and could not work for six months. Although the plaintiff has since returned to work at the mill, he has been placed in a different position that does not require the physical demands of his former millwright position. Also, the accident has severely compromised the plaintiff’s ability to enjoy his many outdoor hobbies and activities, and he has undergone numerous shoulder surgeries and physical therapy sessions. It is anticipated the plaintiff will need a right shoulder replacement and cervical spine surgery.
