Video Transcript: Whistleblower Protection Act
In Michigan, we have what is known as the Whistleblower Protection Act to protect employees who observe behavior while on the job which they in good faith believe is a violation of state or federal law. Employers sometimes do things that violate laws, such as dump what may be toxic chemicals into a river or a lake nearby the workplace. If the employee then reports that to a state or federal agency, the employer learns of the report and then retaliates against the employee, that employee has protection under the Michigan Whistleblowers Protection Act.
