The plaintiff sustained a fall at her home and presented to the defendant hospital where she was admitted for treatment. The lawsuit alleged that following her surgery, the defendant’s nursing staff violated accepted standards of care by failing to take precautions to prevent the pressure ulcers. Had proper measures been taken, including regularly repositioning the patient, providing appropriate wound care, and utilizing necessary medical equipment, the plaintiff would not have incurred the resulting physical, emotional, and economic damages.
