  • $475,000 Settlement for Man Rendered Blind by a Vacuum Cleaner Attachment

Sommers Schwartz attorney Matthew Turner secured a $475,000 personal injury settlement on behalf of a man who was rendered blind in one eye when struck by a vacuum cleaner attachment. While the plaintiff was visiting the defendants’ home, a teenager residing in the home swung a vacuum tube in the air, causing a plastic attachment at the end of the tube to break free, hitting the plaintiff in his left eye. After presenting to the emergency room, tests and scans revealed an orbital bone fracture and a post-septal hematoma and he was forced to undergo traumatic cataract surgery. The lawsuit alleged that the negligence of the minor-defendant and the defendant-parents was the direct cause of the plaintiff’s blindness and injuries.
