- Wrongful Death from Negligently Treated Bed Sores: Stewart v. MediLodge of Southfield, et al.
Sommers Schwartz attorney Matt Turner filed a wrongful death lawsuit alleging that defendant long-term care facility’s failure to properly prevent and treat decubitus ulcers (bed sores). According to the complaint, the MediLodge medical staff did not recognize and appreciate the decedent’s heightened risk for bed sores, and ulcers developed on her coccyx, right hip, and right heel. The plaintiff claims the staff’s negligence in failing to adequately address the sores and prevent worsening led to the patient’s death. The medical malpractice action was filed in Oakland County, Michigan Circuit Court.
