Sommers Schwartz attorney Jason Thompson secured a $6.55 million settlement on behalf of exotic dancers working at a Deja Vu gentleman’s club. The lawsuit alleged that the plaintiffs were not paid a minimum wage because they were intentionally misclassified as independent contractors and compelled to pay “rent” to the management for the nights they worked. The plaintiffs sought damages for the club’s violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act in a class action filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
