Sommers Schwartz attorney Andy Dragovic obtained a $260,000 medical malpractice settlement for a woman with a fractured hip that the defendant doctors failed to diagnose over a five-year period. The plaintiff, a 66-year-old woman, complained repeatedly of severe and persistent hip and groin pain, yet her team of doctors ignored or failed to appreciate the signs of hip pathology, and failed to properly review x-rays that showed the obvious hip fracture. The plaintiff’s debilitating condition required her to use a wheelchair, walker, and cane, and the pain severely reduced her quality of life. Compounding her injuries, she underwent several unnecessary surgeries and procedures, including unnecessary and invasive back surgery. Only after she tripped and fell, breaking her pelvis on the other side, was the fracture finally diagnosed and a total hip replacement performed.
