  • $925,000 Settlement in Automobile Negligence Case Involving Head-On Collision
Sommers Schwartz attorney Robert Sickels secured a $925,000 personal injury settlement on behalf of an 87-year old Jackson, Michigan widow who was injured when another driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic, colliding with the woman’s vehicle. The collision trapped the plaintiff in her car, requiring first responders to extricate her so that she could be airlifted to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. There, her right leg was amputated and she later underwent surgery to replace a fractured left hip. She continues to suffer from a foot drop that requires a brace. Despite her age, prior to the car accident the plaintiff lived independently in a large white farmhouse situated on 75 acres. She drove her own car, shopped for her own groceries, and even mowed her expansive lawn and tended to beautiful gardens on her property, activities that she will no longer be able to enjoy because of the defendant’s negligence.
