Sommers Schwartz attorney Andy Dragovic filed a car accident injury lawsuit on behalf of a woman who suffered extensive and severe injuries after her vehicle was struck at high speed by a Detroit police car that ran through a red light.

As alleged in the complaint, the plaintiff was driving eastbound through the intersection of two major Detroit thoroughfares. Two vehicles traveling ahead of and in the same direction as the plaintiff were stopped in the parking lane in front of stores near the intersection.

As she was passing those vehicles to their left, the plaintiff proceeded into the intersection on a green light. Unbeknownst to the plaintiff, a Detroit police car was heading northbound towards the same intersection. Neither yielding nor slowing down, the police car drove through a red light at the intersection at a speed of approximately 50 MPH and crashed into the plaintiff’s vehicle, causing it to then crash into a building. 

The negligence of the police officer driving the car caused several serious injuries to the plaintiff, including a fractured ankle and vertebrae, internal injuries, and injuries to her back, ribs, and shoulders.
