  • Radiology and Emergency Room Malpractice – Failure to Diagnose Testicular Torsion: McCrary v Legacy Garden City Hospital, et al.

Sommers Schwartz attorney Kenneth Watkins filed a medical malpractice suit on behalf of a teenage boy who was forced to have his right testicle removed after the defendants failed to properly and timely diagnose his testicular torsion. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff presented to the defendant’s emergency room complaining of sudden and acute right testicular pain. After an unsuccessful right book detorsion attempt, a sonogram was performed on the area, which revealed decreased blood flow to the testicle as noted by the technologist. The plaintiff claims that the defendants failed to appreciate and act on the abnormal sonogram readings and similarly failed to immediately order a urology consultation upon his presentation to the hospital. The suit is pending in Wayne County Circuit Court and seeks damages resulting from the defendants’ emergency room negligence and radiology malpractice.
