  • $1.1 Million Settlement for Woman Severely Injured in Truck Collision

Sommers Schwartz attorney Michael Cunningham secured a $1.1 million settlement in a trucking accident that ended a woman’s promising career. The lawsuit alleged that the driver of the tractor/trailer had every opportunity to prevent the accident, but instead turned into the plaintiff’s lane of traffic, colliding head-on with her car at 45 miles per hour. As a result of the defendant driver’s negligence and failure to yield, the plaintiff smashed both of her knees into the dashboard of her car, fractured her wrist, and sustained a closed head injury. To date, she has undergone eight separate surgeries, including replacements of both knees, and she is expected to need additional procedures and ongoing treatment. Because she has been disabled from a job for which she received glowing performance reviews and in which she planned to work for several more years, she incurred significant economic damages as well.
