  • $2.7 Million Class Action Settlement Involving Inflated Prescription Drug Prices
Sommers Schwartz attorney Jason J. Thompson spearheaded the participation of 19 Michigan municipalities in an $81 million class action settlement based on allegations of prescription drug price gouging committed by pharmaceutical wholesaler McKesson. The plaintiffs claimed that the company artificially and unjustifiably inflated the prices by 5% across the board on numerous brand name drugs across the board. The municipalities that took part in the suit include Oakland, Wayne, Livingston, and Midland Counties; the cities of Detroit, Sterling Heights, Flint, Pontiac, and Riverview; and even Saginaw Township Community Schools. In total, these cities and counties recovered $2,712,507.68 as the result of Jason’s submission and oversight of their claims.
