$1.075 Million Class Action Settlement for Sutherland Call Center Reps Over Unpaid “Off the Clock” Work

$1 Million

Sommers Schwartz attorney Kevin Stoops finalized a $1,075,000 class action settlement against Sutherland Global Services, Inc. on behalf of hourly home-based customer service representatives who claimed the company unlawfully withheld compensation for “off the clock” work. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs were required to boot up computers and log into applications before beginning their shifts, and shut down computers and log out of applications after their shifts ended. They were not paid for those pre- and post-shift activities, nor were they paid for periods of time when they were disconnected from computer networks and systems during their shifts and engaging with technical support personnel to correct the malfunctions.
