Attorney Tad T. Roumayah of Sommers Schwartz, PC secured a $625,000 pre-suit settlement for a former executive at a Fortune 500 company, resolving allegations of national origin and religious discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. § 1981, and Michigan’s Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA).

With nearly three decades of service to the company, the executive—a practicing Muslim of Middle Eastern descent—held multiple senior roles across North America and globally. Following a promotion, the executive’s new manager systematically excluded the executive from key decisions, humiliated the executive in front of other employees, and made racially disparaging remarks about Middle Eastern individuals, overall fostering a hostile work environment. Despite a strong performance record, the executive’s employment was later terminated after lodging a complaint about the hostile work environment. Before any formal legal action was taken, the parties engaged in negotiations, leading to a confidential pre-suit resolution for $625,000.
