Reverend Terrance Healy was ordained a priest in 1969. In 1987, while serving as a pastor at St. John Catholic Church near Hartland, Michigan, prosecutors charged him with four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for sexual abuse against a fifteen-year-old boy.

An ensuing investigation unearthed 30 years of Reverend Healy’s sexual assault against several minors in multiple parishes in multiple cities. In some instances, the diocese merely apologized to victims and offered to pay for counseling but did little else to stop Reverend Healy’s activities. Unfortunately, few victims ever came forward to report the assaults due to fear of embarrassment, scorn, and possible retribution from the Catholic Church.

In 1987, Reverend Healy pled guilty to second-degree criminal sexual misconduct involving minors. He was convicted and spent nearly four and a half years in prison.

Reverend Healy was removed from the priesthood in 1992. He died on January 1, 2019.
