During his tenure as a priest, Father Vincent DeLorenzo served in six different Michigan parishes, including St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing, Saint Joseph in Kalamazoo, St. Augustine in Kalamazoo, St. Casimir in Lansing, Saint Pius X in Flint, and St. Robert in Flushing.

In 1995, Father DeLorenzo began molesting a five-year-old boy who was a student at Holy Redeemer Parish in Burton. According to allegations, Father DeLorenzo often approached the boy in private, reaching into the boy’s pants to fondle his genitals.

In January 2002, a victim accused Father DeLorenzo of sexually abusing him in the mid-1980s. The Diocese of Lansing removed Father DeLorenzo from ministry and reported the complaint to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office. By February 2002, Father DeLorenzo admitted to having inappropriate sexual contact with a different eight-year-old boy, beginning in the late 1970s and continuing for five years.

Since 2002, seven more survivors have come forward with claims that Father DeLorenzo sexually assaulted them as children. As a result, Father DeLorenzo sought medical and psychological treatment. Prosecutors have not pursued cases against him.

In February 2004, another victim accused Father DeLorenzo of assaulting him in 1987 when he was just five years old. Although initially reported in November 2003, local police did not have enough evidence to charge him.

In 2019, the Michigan Attorney General formally charged Father Vincent with first and third-degree criminal sexual conduct. In April 2023, Father DeLorenzo pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct with the five-year-old boy in exchange for dropping the other charges.
