Sommers Schwartz attorney Jason Thompson joined a consortium of lawyers and law firms to recover $54 million to compensate individuals and families affected by one of Michigan’s worst groundwater disasters.

Kent County residents were exposed to chemicals that cause thyroid issues, cancer, and other illnesses and conditions from exposure to PFAS, a hazardous chemical used to waterproof shoes produced at the company now known as Wolverine World Wide. The toxins were dumped years ago on various sites in the county, and the chemicals later infiltrated the groundwater and appeared in drinking water wells.
