On January 9, 2024, Sommers Schwartz attorneys Jesse Young and Jason Thompson filed a collective action lawsuit against Lear Corporation for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act. On December 3, 2024, they secured a settlement of $2,000,000 for more than 20,000 hourly Lear employees who worked at 26 locations across the United States.

The employees alleged that Lear failed to include shift differentials and bonuses when calculating their “regular rate of pay” and their corresponding overtime rates under the FLSA. As a result, the employees claimed they were not paid all overtime owed for weeks where they worked more than 40 hours per week, for which they should have been paid 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.
