Working behind the bench at the trial and appellate levels, at a legal clinic, and as a law clerk for Sommers Schwartz while in law school provided Sara Mickovic with diverse experiences and perspectives that formed a solid foundation for her litigation practice.
Focusing on personal injury and medical malpractice matters, Sara thrives on the complexities and challenges of such cases. Fluent in multiple languages, Sara has a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a demonstrated personal commitment to helping clients through a challenging time. All these attributes complement Sara’s legal skills, making her particularly well-suited for her role.
While earning her law degree from Wayne State University Law School on a full-tuition merit scholarship, Sara worked in a variety of positions that helped her understand the underlying mechanics of litigation, how judges make decisions, and how the attorneys who appear before them build successful cases. In addition to working at the firm as a law clerk, Sara served as a legal intern with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office – Conviction and Integrity Unit and worked as a judicial clerk in the Superior Court of Santa Clara County. She was also a student attorney at Wayne State Law School Appeals & Post-Conviction Advocacy Clinic and a law clerk with the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Sara gained all this valuable experience while amassing an impressive academic record, including serving as editor-in-chief of the Wayne State University Law School Journal of Law in Society, participating in an award-winning moot court, and working as a research and teaching assistant. After law school and before joining Sommers Schwartz as an associate, Sara served as a research attorney at the Michigan Court of Appeals, where she provided legal research and analysis and drafted opinions and legal reports to assist assigned judges in determining outcomes of matters before the Court.
