What are your responsibilities in your current role at Sommers Schwartz?
At Sommers Schwartz, I play a vital role in supporting the attorneys and making sure our cases move forward efficiently. My responsibilities include keeping the attorneys in line, opening and closing files, scheduling, filing of pleadings, paying invoices, calendaring, finalizing documents, speaking with clients and experts, obtaining lien information, obtaining medical records, and any and all other legal assistant duties.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy helping to accomplish the tasks necessary to assist with the clients’ cases so we can achieve the best possible outcome for them.
Did you work anywhere before joining Sommers Schwartz? If so, how has that experience helped you here?
Yes, I have worked for other law firms. I have been working in this field since graduating high school and have continued in it to this day. I have handled both Plaintiffs’ and Defendants’ cases. I possess knowledge and training in nearly every aspect of the legal field, but I have more experience in medical malpractice work.
My previous experiences have helped me step into this office without needing much guidance. The attorneys’ caseloads were full, requiring their full attention. At a few previous firms where I worked, I encountered similar situations, which prepared me when I came to Sommers Schwartz, P.C.
What is your proudest accomplishment at Sommers Schwartz?
Being able to come in and accomplish everything necessary to keep the team on track. I was able to show them that I am a self-starter and can get things done in a timely manner.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Baking, bowling, and sewing are a few things.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Listen, observe, and learn from others, and treat people with respect, and you will receive it in return.
