Ben Wilensky is a member of Sommers Schwartz’s Personal Injury Litigation Group and focuses his practice on representing railroad workers who seek compensation for on-the-job injuries under the Federal Employers' Liability Act.
Ben and his Sommers Schwartz colleague Arvin J. Pearlman are the only attorneys in Michigan who belong to the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys (ARLA), the preeminent association of attorneys representing injured railroad employees.
After graduating from Michigan State University, Ben served as an aide to U.S. Senators Jon Corzine and Frank Lautenberg in Washington, D.C. He then attended the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was an Executive Articles Editor and a member of the Executive Board of the law review while earning his Juris Doctor.
In addition to his active FELA practice, Ben has represented clients in professional malpractice, products liability, governmental liability, civil rights, RICO, and fraud litigation, as well as business disputes involving breach of contract and employment law. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star each year since 2015, a testament to the respect he has garnered from his peers in the legal profession.
Ben is active in various organizations such as the Michigan Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the Catholic Lawyers Society of Detroit. He is also a designated case evaluator in the Oakland County Circuit Court. He contributes to his community as a member of the Beverly Hills Planning Commission.
