Sommers Schwartz attorney Jason Thompson (along with lawyers from Anderson & Wanca and Bock Hatch Lewis & Oppenheim LLC) secured a settlement of nearly $7 million on behalf of a more than individuals and companies who received a faxed advertisement from Alfoccino Restaurant. In total, the defendant sent advertisements nearly 14,000 times to roughly 7,700 fax numbers. None of the plaintiffs consented to receive the faxes, which the class action lawsuit claimed was a violation of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The case was litigated in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
