Rick Groffsky Discusses Ohio State Abuse Settlement with NBC4 Columbus
Sommers Schwartz Senior Shareholder Rick Groffsky spoke with NBC 4 in Columbus about Ohio State’s $100 million settlement with 279 abuse survivors of former university physician Richard Strauss.
Groffsky and the Sommers Schwartz law firm have represented survivors in major institutional abuse cases across the country, including that of former Chicago OB-GYN Fabio Ortega. He highlighted a pattern of abuse across notable institutions, and urged survivors to consider coming forward:
“If you know or believe you are a victim, there’s a good chance that you’re not alone. If you think that the time it happened so long ago that the time frame would forbid you from being able to even do anything about it, make sure you talk to a lawyer who does a lot of this work, because that may not be true.”
