Sommers Schwartz is proud to announce that senior shareholder Judy Susskind has been named a fellow of the prestigious Litigation Counsel of America (LCA).

Induction into the elite 3,500-member LCA is by invitation only. Its fellows represent the highest echelon of trial advocacy skills, successful outcomes in and out of the courtroom, and ethical standards. Candidates are evaluated based on research, nominations from current members, and acknowledgment by other organizations and associations. As stated on its website, LCA fellows comprise “one of the most well-rounded practice groups among any legal professional society.”

For over three decades, Judy has represented plaintiffs in medical malpractice and personal injury matters, successfully fighting for individuals and families injured at the hands of doctors, nurses, healthcare providers, and others.

In addition to LCA, Judy is an executive board member and past president of the Michigan Association for Justice and a fellow of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates and the American College of Trial Lawyers. Judy recently took over as President of the Michigan Chapter of ABOTA and Vice Chair of the Michigan Committee for the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Judy has been recognized with many honors and awards, such as repeated inclusion on the list of Michigan Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers since 2006 and 2009, respectively. Best Lawyers named her “Lawyer of the Year” for medical malpractice in Detroit in 2015, 2017, and 2021 and personal injury in 2022. Michigan Lawyers Weekly named Judy among the most influential “Women in the Law” in 2019 and “Leader in the Law” and the “Lawyer of the Year” in 2004. In 2020, the State Bar of Michigan Negligence Law Section honored her with the Earl J. Cline/Sherwin Schreier Award for Excellence.
